segment of our program is geared toward assisting Project Crossroads
students in career planning and in job
related issues and concerns. Students
work with an Employment Skills Specialist who meets with students on an
individual basis to determine each person’s individual situation and
needs. In the ideal job one is energized, is using his or her greatest strengths and skills, and looks forward to going to work. Finding that ideal job or career is a difficult task. Students come to our programs with varying levels of career direction. Some of our |

and direction. Many of our foreign students come here with strong educational backgrounds and skills. Often their credentials are not recognized here, and new careers must be launched. Or, ways must be found in which to gain licensing, certification, etc. here. Many other students come to us uncertain of a direction for their future paths. Discussions are held and surveys may be given to uncover interests, strengths, values, and skills. Students are directed to several career interest surveys. |

Also the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is used to connect personality
type with strengths and weaknesses, conditions of job satisfaction, and
popular occupations for one’s type. Efforts are made to find suitable training
and educational programs for those
wishing to continue their educations. Referrals are often made to the
College Center for Student Development.
We work with those students needing help in the job search process. We discuss places to look for work, filling out a job application, writing a resume and cover letter, and job interviewing including dressing. Individual follow up and support are on-going throughout the course of the program. Once a job is secured it becomes important to do what is necessary to keep that job. We discuss strategies for getting along with bosses and co-workers. Methods for dealing with obstacles and frustrations are discussed. We use several excellent videos which touch on these topics as well. Click on the links above for job search guidance.
