Community Day - 2007

Our 3rd annual Community Day was our best ever!  We had 28 community organizations in attendance.  >> see who attended

Representatives from community service organizations are invited to present and discuss their programs and services on an individual and small group basis with students.  Some of the organizations in attendance this year included:

  • Beardsley Memorial Library
  • La Via Latina
  • Bureau of Rehabilitative Services
  • CT Works, Dept of Labor
  • Family Strides
  • United Way of CT
  • 211 Infoline
  • Winsted Fire Department

International food, offered by each of our students was served, adding a special touch to the day.  There were dishes from South Korea, China, Poland, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and more.

The Department of Labor Career Express bus came on campus, allowing students to come on board to learn about the latest workforce and job skills development services for job seekers, workers, veterans, students and employers.

Students were able to have their blood pressure checked, made appointments to have a free mammogram, received information on how to get their green cards and discussed the possibility of getting assistance with their fuel bills.

There was no shortage of free literature to take home!
