Community Day - October 18, 2006

Our 2nd annual Community Day was a great success.  Students learned about what the Northwestern Connecticut community has to offer.  A sampling of the organizations who attended included:

  • Beardsley Memorial Library
  • YMCA Family Literacy
  • Winchester Housing Authority
  • Bureau of Rehabilitative Services
  • CT Works, Dept of Labor
  • Family Strides
  • United Way of CT
  • Infoline
  • Big Brothers/Big Sisters
  • Women's Support Services
  • CT Legal Services

International food, offered by each of our students was served, adding a special touch to the day.  There were dishes from South Korea, China, Poland, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and more.
The Department of Labor bus came to our campus, allowing students to come on board, see the mobile classroom and learn about what the Department of Labor Bus has to offer.
Students browsed though the booths, sat down and talked with representatives, and picked up some literature to read later.
