WEBSITE OF THE WEEK

Featuring websites that we think are outstanding in some way . . .

scholarly, practical, or just plain fun.

SoundJunction

     http://www.soundjunction.org

SoundJunction  is an “award-winning site for listening to, discovering, and creating music.” It’s produced by Britain’s Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, but make no mistake – it’s not about highbrow music. It’s all about contemporary and emerging genres. This multimedia website introduces the user to a wealth of information in such categories as “Explore Music,” “How Music Works,” “About Musicians,” Instruments and Voices,” “Music in Context,” and “Composing and Remixing,” but its genius is in its interactive tools that assist the budding musician/composer in actually creating rhythms, harmonies, melodies, and texture. SoundJunction,  in very exciting and lively ways, offers the opportunity to not only understand  music, but to also make it.
