MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Master’s degree in Nursing and two (2) years collegiate teaching experience and four (4) years of current nursing experience in medical/surgical nursing required. Eligibility for or current CT licensure required. Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications as stated are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them for the responsibilities of this position. They must also provide appropriate references. Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons. PREFER QUALIFICATIONS: College teaching experience in an ADN program. A demonstrated understanding of the mission of the comprehensive community college and its diverse commuter student population is essential. RESPONSIBILITIES: Department of Higher Education, Board of Governors licensed and accredited program; Board of Examiners for Nursing approved program. Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, responsibilities include classroom, clinical and laboratory teaching in an evening program; related course development and evaluation, student advisement and tutoring, developing and maintaining relationships with community agencies and participation in departmental and college-wide activities associated with a full time faculty position. Teaching schedule may include days, evenings and/or weekends. Participation in other college and community service activities consistent with the mission of the college including participation in commencement and convocation activities and special college or system meetings is expected. The college will be seeking NLNAC accreditation in spring 2012. PREFER QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with online delivery methods such as Blackboard is preferred. Familiarity with the integration of educational technology into curriculum, overall computer literacy and awareness of current issues and pedagogical practices that have an impact on the discipline are preferred. A demonstrated understanding of the mission of the comprehensive community college and its diverse student population is essential.
