Team Success Scholars Program
The Team Success Scholars Program at Northwestern Connecticut Community College is a program designed for Student Success. The program helps young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 to achieve their educational and career goals. We are a tightly-knit cohort of community college students who benefit from mentoring, academic tutoring, career and educational guidance, financial assistance with tuition, books, and transportation, paid internships, on-campus employment, and merit stipends. Our success speaks for itself.

- 65-80% graduation rate
- 100% earn a Workplace Credential
- Average Time to graduation: 2.5 years
The program is a Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) youth funded program, administered through the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board (NRWIB) .Candidates are required to submit an application and supporting documents, and to interview with NCCC and NRWIB directors. The program is competitive, open to any youth interested in attending NCCC. Only fully matriculated NCCC students will be considered.
Steps to Applying
Step 1: The Application
Complete the application “Workforce Connection Objective Assessment Summary” which is available here, and return to:

Deadline for submitting the application is June 1st, 2017. It is strongly encouraged to submit your application before this date, as the program is competitive, and applications are reviewed on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis.
Step 2: Become a College Student
Complete all the steps necessary to be a fully matriculated NCCC student. Go to www.nwcc.edu > Future Students > Degree Seeking Students for help on how to do this.
Step 3: Supporting Documents
In order to determine WIOA eligibility for the program, supporting documents are required. We will call you in for an initial interview, and to collect all the WIOA required documents. Have the following documents ready:
- High school transcripts
- One letter of recommendation
- Drivers license, Permit, or CT ID
- Social Security card
- Birth Certificate
- Green Card
- Most recent pay stub
Step 4: Determine Eligibility
You will be called in for a second interview, to determine if you meet the federal WIOA guidelines for eligibility. Only complete application packets will be considered. Those candidates determined to be eligible will be forwarded to a final applicant pool. You will be notified in early August as to whether you have been selected to join Team Success Scholars.
Step 5: Joining Us
If you are selected to join Team Success Scholars, the first event you will attend is our Fall ’17 Leadership Retreat, scheduled for August 21-22, 2017. This is an overnight camping adventure, packed full with adventure and fun. NCCC classes start the following week. Hope to see you there!
