CEDHH Admissions/Placement

Students matriculate at Northwestern Connecticut Community College by:

  1. Completing the college application form or applying online at http://www.nwcc.commnet.edu/admissions and paying the non-refundable application fee of $20.00
  2. Submitting an official high school transcript or General Education Diploma (GED)
  3. Submitting evidence of measles and rubella immunization (if born after January 1, 1957 or graduated from high school before 1999)

To receive support services from CEDHH, deaf and hard of hearing students must also submit a copy of their audiogram to the CEDHH office.

International students must go to the Admissions page for further application requirements.

No admission test is required; however, placement tests in reading, writing and mathematics are administered to all incoming first-year students prior to registration.

Upon the completion of placement testing, students may be placed in remedial or developmental classes based on their individual needs. Remedial and developmental English and mathematics courses taught by CEDHH instructional specialists who use direct sign language communication with deaf and hard of hearing students are available. These courses are designed with the instructional needs of these students in mind, based on English as a Second Language (ESL) methodologies for the deaf. Students may need several semesters to complete these classes depending on their skill levels.
